JUHLAT
Näyttely tarkastelee ihmisiä, kohtaamisia ja toivoa aikana, jolloin epävarmuus, yksinäisyys ja jatkuva muutos muovaavat arkeamme. Näyttelyn lähtökohtana on kysymys siitä, mitä juhla merkitsee maailmassa, jossa yhteys toisiin on yhä useammin etäistä ja katkonaista.
Teoksissa juhla näyttäytyy yhdessäolon mahdollisuutena ja vastavoimana eristäytymiselle. Se voi olla kohtaaminen, yhteinen ateria, keskustelu, muisto tai hetki, jossa ihminen tulee nähdyksi ja kuulluksi.
Pohjois-Karjalassa työskentelevän kuvataiteilijan Tuija HP:n teoksissa väri, pinta ja tunne muodostavat keskeisen ilmaisun. Voimakkaat, hehkuvat ja toisinaan tummatkin värimaailmat kuljettavat katsojaa ilon, surun, muistojen ja toivon kerrostumien läpi. Teosten pinnat ovat kerroksellisia ja vaihtelevia – ryijymäisiä, sileitä tai kuultavia.
Teoksissa käytetty tuhkapigmentti koostuu poltetuista taideteoksista vuosilta 1988–2024. Se ei merkitse loppua, vaan muutosta: aiemmat teokset jatkavat elämäänsä uusien teosten materiaalina. Tuhka kantaa mukanaan aikaa, muistia ja taiteellisen työn historiaa, ja kytkee työskentelyn myös kiertotalouden periaatteisiin.
Juhlat / Party on kutsu pysähtyä yhteisen kokemuksen äärelle. Se muistuttaa siitä, ettei juhla synny täydellisistä olosuhteista, vaan ihmisistä, jotka kokoontuvat yhteen.
PARTY
The exhibition explores people, encounters and hope at a time when uncertainty, loneliness and constant change shape our everyday lives. It is grounded in the question of what celebration means in a world where connection with others is increasingly distant and fragmented.
In the works, celebration appears as a possibility for togetherness and as a counterforce to isolation. It can take the form of an encounter, a shared meal, a conversation, a memory, or a moment in which a person is seen and heard.
In the works of visual artist Tuija HP, based in North Karelia, colour, surface and emotion form the core of expression. Bold, luminous and at times dark colour worlds guide the viewer through layers of joy, sorrow, memory and hope. The surfaces of the works are layered and varied – shaggy like rya textiles, smooth or translucent.
The ash pigment used in the works is made from burnt artworks from 1988–2024. It does not signify an end, but transformation: earlier works continue their life as material for new works. The ash carries time, memory and the history of artistic practice, while also linking the work to principles of circular economy.
Juhlat / Party is an invitation to pause and reflect on shared experience. It reminds us that celebration is not born from perfect conditions, but from people coming together.
