Maalauksissa on ihmisiä; tekijän ja katsojan lisäksi väreillä on siis muitakin kokijoita. Kuvien ihmiset ovat tietysti pelkkää kuvitelmaa ja syntyneet maalin koskettaessa kangasta. Käteni on ohjaillut sivellintä, mieleni rakentanut tilanteet, värit ja hahmot. Osa on lähtöisin suoraan omasta elämästäni.

Asetelma on sinänsä yksinkertainen, lapsikin haluaa piirtää oman kuvansa ja itsensä suhteessa muuhun maailmaan. Minulle ihmisen kuvaaminen on kuitenkin mysteeri. Ihmishahmot ovat ilmaantuneet kuviini viime vuosina, ja tulleet vähitellen lähemmäksi jotakin kertomaan.

Seuraan, mitä maailmassa tapahtuu. Haluan maalata lisää valoa. Median kirkkaassa valokeilassa paistattelee nyt paha, syystäkin. Katse sokaistuu ja muu näyttää pimeältä. Silmä tottuu. Muutakin on, ystävät yhä kokoontuvat yhteen tai ainakin uneksivat siitä. Värit ovat vielä olemassa.

ON THE SIDE OF LIGHT

There are people in these paintings; beyond the artist and the viewer, the colours have other witnesses, too. The figures in the images are, of course, figments of my imagination, conceived as paint met canvas. My hand guided the brush, my mind set the scene, the colours and figures. Some stem directly from my own life.

In its essence, the matter is simple: even a child wants to draw their own image and themselves in relation to the rest of the world. To me, however, depicting humans remains a mystery. Human figures have only appeared in my paintings in recent years, slowly getting closer, as if they had something to tell me.

I keep abreast of what goes on in the world. I want to paint more light. Evil now basks in the bright lights of the media, and no wonder. Our collective gaze is blinded, and everything else is obscured. Yet, the eye adjusts and there is more: friends still gather together, or at least dream of doing so. Colours still exist.
